Hera Oktadiana earned her Ph.D from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She also received CHE (Certified Hospitality Educator) from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. She has many years of experiences in the hospitality and tourism education. In a more administrative capacity, she has been the Head of Hotel Management and the Head of Hospitality and Tourism Management (International) at Bina Nusantara (BINUS) University, Head of Hotel Management at Bunda Mulia University, and Deputy Manager for the International Hotel and Tourism at Trisakti Institute of Tourism, where she developed those programs. In 2017 she joined James Cook University, Australia as a Visiting Scholar (tourism research). She is also appointed as the Adjunct Senior Lecturer at James Cook University. She was involved in various national and international tourism associations such as PATA (education and training committee), SKAL, Association of the Indonesian Tourism Tertiary Education Institutions/ HILDIKTIPARI (Chairman for International Relations and Regional Chairman), Indonesian Tourism Experts Organization (Chairman III), and Hotel Frontliners Association (Secretary).
